ARVIDA / AP60
Arvida Works has been in operation since 1926, making it Rio Tinto’s oldest plant in Quebec. Even after 95 years, the smelter continues to improve its process to remain competitive in the marketplace. At our AP60 Technology Centre, built in 2013, we have pioneered one of the world’s most technologically advanced aluminium smelting technologies, producing 40% more aluminium per cell than traditional processes. The two plants share the same casthouse, where billets are produced for the window and door, automotive, and other markets. The Small Ingots Saguenay and Dubuc casting centres, which produce niche products, are also part of the same group.
